This easy apple cider vinegar and olive oil dressing, is sweetened with honey and flavored with Dijon mustard, a little garlic and salt.
A homemade salad dressing with apple cider vinegar and honey adds punch and zing to salads like my Butternut Squash Apple Salad.
However, don't just think salad. This creamy apple cider dressing also tastes great drizzled onto a sandwich or dipping sauce for fried green tomatoes or Fried Vidalia Onion Rings.

- Honey
- Apple cider vinegar
- Dijon mustard
- Crushed garlic or grated shallot
- Extra virgin olive oil or olive oil
- Salt
Pro tip: If you don't have apple cider vinegar, make your own by combining ¼ cup fresh apple cider with 1 ½ tablespoons lemon juice.

- Place the first 4 ingredients into a bowl and whisk to combine.
- Slowly add the olive oil, whisking quickly.
- Store the salad dressing in a jar or covered jug or bowl in the refrigerator until you are ready to serve. Whisk the vinaigrette again just before serving.
Pro tip: For an extra creamy apple cider dressing recipe, I use a blender or immersion blender when pouring in the olive oil.
Substitutions & Variations
- Make a Zesty Apple Cider Vinaigrette by adding 2 tablespoons pineapple juice and ⅛ to ¼ teaspoon ground red (cayenne) pepper.
- Swap honey for yellow or wholegrain mustard.
- Garlic can be swapped for shallot.
- For an extra creamy version, use a blender or immersion blender when pouring in the olive oil.
