This is a super easy Pecan Crust recipe for pie or cheesecakes made with just 3 ingredients in 5 minutes! It's a nutty, low carb alternative to a graham cracker crust and just happens to be a homemade gluten free pie crust, too!
Thank you to my friends at Whaley Pecan Company for sponsoring this post.
With just 3 ingredients, you can prep this pie crust made with pecans in less than 5 minutes! Then, it bakes for just 15 minutes before it's ready to fill with your favorite pie fillings like coconut cream or cherry.
You can also skip the pre-baking of the crust and use it as a pecan pie crust recipe or even a pecan crust for pumpkin pie. The more pecans, the merrier, I say!
Shortcuts
- Just 3 ingredients.
- You don't have to roll out or crimp a pie crust dough.
- You can use Whaley Pecans pecan meal and skip the step of grinding pecans in the food processor.
I've tested this recipe 3 times and I think this is the best pecan crust recipe.
My favorite filling for this crust is for my Pecan Cream Pie.

What you will need to make this pecan crust recipe

- Butter
- Sugar
- Pecan meal (course pecan flour) or coarsely ground pecans
I prefer to make my own pecan crust instead of buying them because I know my pecans are fresh or I can keep them in the freezer.
Pre-made nut crusts you can get in some grocery stores can become rancid if they are left at room temperature for long periods of time.
How to make your own pecan crust for pie
Scroll down to the bottom for the printable recipe with detailed instructions.
- Melt the butter in the microwave in a large microwave-safe bowl. Add the pecan meal (ground pecans) and sugar and stir well.
- Press the pecan mixture into the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch pie plate using your fingers or flat bottomed cup.
- Bake according to printable recipe below.
- Let cool completely on a wire rack.
Note: Although I'm partial to pecans, most any coarsely ground nuts will work in this nut crust recipe.
Mini Pecan Pies
As a variation, you can also make mini pecan pies (pecan tassies) using this pecan meal pie crust mixture. Just press 1 to 2 tablespoons of the pecan mixture into the bottom and up the sides of miniature muffin pans. Pour in about 1 to 2 tablespoons of the filling from my Maple Pecan Tassies recipe and bake at 350F for about 20 minutes.
Pecan pie crust filling ideas:
This homemade pecan nut crust recipe is an excellent substitution for a graham cracker pie crust. Fill it with your favorite pie filling recipe:

- Banana cream pie
- Chocolate pie
Storage Tips
- To Store. Store the unbaked or baked pie crust in the refrigerator, covered or in an air tight container until ready to bake or fill with pie filling.
- To Freeze. Wrap the pecan crust in aluminum foil and freeze for up to 3 months in the freezer. Let thaw in the refrigerator or room temperature.
