I had so much fun sharing my two passions today as the guest speaker for the Gardendale Rotary Club. They asked me to tell them about my new cookbook Magic Cakes and what's new for the 17th Annual Gardendale Magnolia Festival.
I talked about how we all wear many hats every day- chef, taxi cab driver, project manager, counselor, teacher, financial planner, community activist, brother, friend, and many more. Our lives are busy, our relationships complex and with each change of hat comes a new set of responsibilities and expectations. All of this can lead to stress and absolutely no white space on our calendar.
The two hats I wore today were cookbook author/food blogger (wait, that's two) and event planner. My two passions: food and festival.
I got to talk about my new food blog Grits and Gouda and my new dessert cookbook that is available in bookstores and online October 3. (Pre-order now online. Just click HERE.) Everyone was so attentive and kind.
The 17th Annual Gardendale Magnolia Festival is April 20-21, 2018. We are working with the Gardendale Historical Society to bring you a local artisan potter to provide live pottery demonstrations and something special you can purchase at his exhibit. HINT: Gardendale used to be called Jugtown until 1906.
No matter what hat I wore today or will wear tomorrow, I hope I wear it doing everything for the glory of God.
Thank you Leenise Gaddy for inviting me to speak to this wonderful group of community servants.
